YOUR DATA AND YOUR CHOICES

Privacy Policy

This policy explains what information WebTug and its service providers may handle when you play, share a challenge, view an ad, or contact us.

OVERVIEW

WebTug is a general-audience browser-game and learning site. You do not need to create an account to play. Some game information remains in your browser, while hosting, security, and advertising providers may process technical information needed to operate, protect, measure, and fund the site.

INFORMATION STORED IN YOUR BROWSER

WebTug uses local browser storage to remember your best score on that device and browser. Legacy score keys from earlier versions may also be read so a previous best score is not lost after a name update. This game score is not a user account and is not automatically synced between devices.

The six science arcade games each keep a separate best score in local browser storage. Those scores do not replace your WebTug Classic best score and are not sent to a shared leaderboard.

Physics Lab comparison settings and notes, and River Shelter designs, results, and notes, remain in the current page’s memory. They are not uploaded or saved to a server and are cleared when that page session ends.

You can remove this information by clearing WebTug’s site data in your browser. Private-browsing modes may erase it when the session ends.

CHALLENGE LINKS

When you use the friend-challenge feature, WebTug creates a link with the target score in a beat parameter. Your device may pass that link to its share menu or clipboard. Anyone who receives the link can see the target score. WebTug does not add your name, email address, or locally saved score history to that link.

TECHNICAL AND OPERATIONAL DATA

When you request a page, the companies that host, deliver, and secure WebTug may automatically receive information such as your IP address, requested URL, date and time, referring page, browser type, device or operating-system details, and security or diagnostic events. These providers may retain information under their own policies and use it to deliver the site, detect abuse, troubleshoot failures, and keep the service reliable.

GOOGLE ADS, COOKIES, AND IDENTIFIERS

WebTug uses or intends to use Google AdSense. Third-party vendors, including Google, may place and read cookies in a visitor’s browser and may use web beacons, IP addresses, device identifiers, or similar technologies to serve, limit, secure, and measure advertising. Google’s advertising cookies may enable Google and its partners to serve ads based on a visitor’s previous visits to WebTug or other websites.

When Google services load, Google may receive the page address, IP address, and cookie or device identifiers. Google explains this processing in How Google uses information from sites or apps that use its services.

You can control personalized advertising through Google Ads Settings. You can also learn about opting out of some participating third-party vendors at YourAdChoices. Your device and browser settings may offer additional cookie, storage, tracking-protection, or permission controls.

Before personalized ads are enabled in regions where Google requires consent, WebTug must use a Google-certified consent process. Non-personalized ads can still use cookies and do not remove consent requirements where they apply. Actual consent choices must come from the configured consent platform; this policy is not a consent form. The homepage, active games, and interactive experiments do not load WebTug’s AdSense advertising code.

EMBEDDED EDUCATIONAL VIDEOS

Science articles include videos published by third parties on YouTube. The YouTube player is not loaded until you choose “Watch on this page.” The field photographs are delivered by WebTug; we do not load YouTube thumbnails before that choice.

When you load a video, your browser connects to YouTube’s privacy-enhanced player at youtube-nocookie.com. Google may receive technical information such as your IP address, browser information, and the referring site. Privacy-enhanced mode does not mean that playback is anonymous or that no data is processed. YouTube controls the player, captions, availability, and any advertising within the video.

You can read all observation notes without loading a video. Following “Watch on YouTube” opens YouTube directly, under its own policies. See YouTube’s explanation of privacy-enhanced embeds and Google’s Privacy Policy.

HOW INFORMATION MAY BE USED

  • to load, operate, and secure the website and game;
  • to preserve a best score locally in your browser;
  • to create the score-based challenge link you request;
  • to diagnose errors, prevent abuse, and improve reliability;
  • to display, limit, measure, and protect advertising; and
  • to respond when you contact us.

CONTACT MESSAGES

WebTug does not currently use an on-site contact form. If you send an email, the message can include your email address, its contents, and any attachments you choose to provide. It may be retained as reasonably needed to answer the request, maintain business records, resolve disputes, or meet legal obligations.

CHILDREN

WebTug is a general-audience service and is not intentionally directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly request that children submit personal information through the game. A parent or guardian who believes a child provided personal information can use the contact address below to request review or deletion.

RETENTION AND SECURITY

Local scores remain in your browser until you or the browser removes them. Hosting, security, email, and advertising providers retain data according to their own policies and operational or legal needs. Reasonable safeguards are used, but no internet transmission or storage system can be guaranteed completely secure.

CHANGES AND CONTACT

This policy may change as WebTug develops or its providers and legal obligations change. The updated date at the top will identify the current version.
