Classic’s original timing demonstration uses its actual movement values with explanatory overlays. The detailed examples below apply to WebTug Classic.

1. A TOUCH CAN BE TOO SHORT TO RESCUE A FALL

In the first example, three touches last about 0.07 seconds each. The visible web needs about 0.12 seconds to reach its target, so the strand is released while it is still extending. Upward acceleration does begin, but from level velocity the total correction is only about six pixels before the path settles back through its starting height.

A micro-touch is useful when the spider already has a safe curve and needs fine control. It is weak when the spider is low and already moving down. “Too short” depends on the current momentum.

2. WAITING LETS GRAVITY BUILD MOMENTUM

The second example begins near level velocity and leaves the screen untouched for roughly 0.55 seconds. That is enough to drop about 137 pixels and reach maximum downward speed. A late hold must first reduce the fall before it can bend the path upward.

Pressing earlier does not mean holding continuously. It means making the recovery while there is still horizontal distance for the curve to change.

3. CONTROLLED RHYTHM FOLLOWS THE PATH, NOT A TIMER

The successful section clears three openings with moderate holds, planned releases, and corrections that begin before the spider reaches an edge. The labels show example inputs rather than a fixed recipe. Gap height and entry momentum change during every run.

  • Look at the nearest opening and glance at the opening after it.
  • Hold while there is still time for the downward curve to flatten.
  • Release before upward momentum carries the spider into the top trunk.
  • Enter the current gap at a height that prepares the next correction.

A THREE-RUN PRACTICE DRILL

  1. Run one: deliberately use several very short touches and notice how little each changes a developed fall.
  2. Run two: leave one long release interval and watch how the recovery starts by cancelling downward momentum.
  3. Run three: forget a fixed beat and call out “rise,” “settle,” and “next gap” as the path changes.

Why touch timing changes the spider path. WebTug uses one control: hold for upward acceleration and release for gravity.

Too short. These three touches last about seven hundredths of a second. Each pulse changes the curve only slightly, and the spider continues toward the lower trunk.

Too late. Leaving the screen untouched lets downward velocity build. After about fifty-five hundredths of a second from level movement, the spider has fallen roughly 137 game pixels.

Controlled correction. Hold early enough to change the curve. Release before upward momentum becomes an overshoot. Watch the next opening while clearing the current one.

Compare the paths. A micro-touch makes a fine correction. A long pause builds a difficult fall. Balanced control responds to position and momentum.

Recap. Hold for useful lift. Release early. Touch again before the fall becomes difficult to recover. Read two gaps ahead.
