WebTug Classic guide. The controls, scores, and shared character rules on this page describe Classic. The six science arcade games have their own controls and simplified physics.
QUICK BASELINE
- Open the game in a current browser and press Play.
- On the ready screen, press and hold inside the canvas for about half a second, then release.
- Try the same action with Spacebar or Arrow Up if a keyboard is available.
- Reload once. Do not clear cookies or site data yet.

The first press does not climb
The Play button opens a ready screen. The next press starts the run and begins the web. Press inside the canvas, not the header or footer. If touch still fails, reload once and check whether a browser extension is blocking page scripts.
The spider keeps climbing after release
Tap once inside the canvas, then release; switching apps during a press can interrupt a browser's pointer-up event. WebTug also cancels a hold when the window blurs, visibility changes, or the pointer is cancelled. Reload if the input remains stuck.
Spacebar scrolls instead of controlling the web
Click or tap the game once so the page has focus. Both Spacebar and Arrow Up are handled while the game is ready or running. An assistive shortcut or extension may reserve a key, so try the other key.
There is no sound
Use the music-note button in the game header and raise device media volume. Many browsers require one user gesture before audio starts. Silent mode and Bluetooth output routing can also affect what you hear.
My best score vanished
The best is local to this browser. Private mode, cleared site data, a new browser profile, or another device can start at zero. WebTug has no login-based cloud save, so do not clear site data as an early troubleshooting step.
A challenge link does not show the target
The URL must include a whole-number beat value, such as ?beat=20. Targets outside 0–999999 and edited nonnumeric values are removed. A score must exceed—not tie—the target.
Fullscreen does not fill an iPhone
Some mobile browsers limit webpage fullscreen. Rotate before starting, settle the browser bars by scrolling, or use the normal portrait layout. The game remains playable without fullscreen.
Movement looks jerky
Close heavy tabs, disable battery-saver restrictions for the browser, and retry without screen recording. WebTug caps a long animation step so returning from a background tab does not teleport the spider, but repeated dropped frames can still make timing harder.
WHAT TO INCLUDE IN A USEFUL REPORT
If the checks do not solve it, send the browser name and version, device model or operating system, portrait or landscape, the page address, and the exact action immediately before the problem. A short screen recording helps for timing or resize problems. Never send a password, full browsing history, or unrelated personal information.
